Rapid, reliable, and reproducible crystallization screen transfers

Achieve successful macromolecular crystallizations with consistent crystal growth across plates thanks to a fully automated workflow

Automate your crystallography workflow

The drop-setting step in your crystallography workflow will benefit significantly from the right combination of automated liquid handling instruments.

  • Run more consistent and reproducible crystallization trials
  • Eliminate plate contamination and evaporation
  • Generate consistent, homogenous crystal mixes
  • No need to vortex or shake the crystallization condition block
  • Free up time and achieve better results faster

Workflow steps: Crystallization screen transfers
  1. Place a deep-well block on the deck of an apricot S3 liquid handling instrument (125µL capacity, 96-well tips) to transfer a Hampton crystal screen or equivalent
  2. The apricot S3 mixes the deep-well block, homogenizing the contents without the need to vortex or shake the crystallization condition block
  3. The apricot S3 aspirates the homogenized solutions from the deep-well block with a pre- and post-aspiration air gap
  4. The apricot S3 moves 100µl of solution, minimizing contamination, to the sitting-drop plate or equivalent
  5. The sitting-drop plate is transferred to the mosquito Xtal3, which sets up the miniaturized crystallization trial
  6. The dragonfly crystal can then generate customized crystallization screens for downstream optimization
