Cambridge, UK – 26th November 2025 – SPT Labtech, a leader in life science tools and technologies, today announced a major commitment to environmental sustainability, confirming its near-term greenhouse gas (GHG) emission reduction targets have been officially validated by a rigorous, science-based global standard: the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) (sciencebasedtargets.org). This commitment reinforces its dedication to supporting the sustainability objectives of its customers and partners.

Near-Term Targets
SPT Labtech commits to reduce absolute scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions 42% by 2030 from a 2024 base year. SPT Labtech also commits to reduce scope 3 GHG emissions 52% per thousand GBP value added with the same timeframe.
Broader Initiatives Driving Immediate Impact
In addition to these validated targets, SPT Labtech continues to drive impact through operational efficiencies and product innovation:
- 100% Renewable Energy: The company now operates on 100% renewable energy across its entire group, resulting in a significant reduction in emissions.
- Product Packaging Innovation: SPT Labtech is integrating sustainability into its product lifecycle with the introduction of new lightweight eco-packaging for some of its most popular consumables, reducing the plastic mass by approximately 60% compared to the previous boxes.
- Decarbonization Focus: SPT Labtech has launched new pilot programmes to support the decarbonization of its global logistics operations. Recognizing the environmental impact of its transportation network, the company is actively exploring and testing lower-emission transport alternatives to traditional long-haul air freight. This strategic move aims to provide a sustainable supply chain for customers worldwide.
