How did your career evolve into this role?
Ajay holds a Master’s degree in Microbiology and began his career as a scientist, working extensively on genomics workflows. Prior to joining SPT Labtech, he spent several years in one of South Asia’s leading genetic testing laboratories, gaining practical experience in sequencing and laboratory processes.
His background in genomics, combined with a growing interest in workflow optimization and automation, naturally led him into an applications-focused role where he could bridge scientific expertise with customer support.
What does a typical day look like?
Ajay’s day-to-day is a dynamic mix of planned and reactive work. He regularly supports customers on-site, helping with instrument setup, troubleshooting, validation, and demo runs.
Alongside this, he works closely with the sales team on pre-sales activities and application preparation, ensuring customers have the right solutions for their workflows. With a balance of technical support and collaboration, no two days are ever quite the same.
What’s your favorite part about your role?
For Ajay, one of the most rewarding aspects of the role is meeting a wide range of scientists and learning about the work they’re doing. This exposure to different research areas keeps him up to date with the latest developments in the field and continuously expands his perspective on how automation can be applied.
