exceptional precision and accuracy in the 500 nL – 5 µL pipetting range, even with highly viscous samples

eliminate cross-contamination

pre-sterilized, disposable pipettes for ensuring data integrity

rapid return on investment

affordable instrument enabling large cost savings on expensive reagents and kits

high speed

rapid plate to plate pipetting motion and tip exchange

versatile at low volume

aspirate, dispense and mix in any plate type or format

low dead volumes

maximizing reagent use and preserving precious sample with dead volumes as low as 0.5 µL

User friendly and flexible; low volume pipetting at your fingertips

mosquito HV genomics provides you with highly accurate and precise low volume pipetting, picking up where traditional liquid handling falls down. mosquito can handle even highly viscous samples (e.g. genomic DNA or enzymes in 50% glycerol), operates with standard microwell plates and can be easily programmed to run a wide range of protocols, which makes mosquito an extremely versatile tool for any genomics lab.

Genomics the mosquito way; miniaturize to maximize

mosquito is changing the way genomics is done - the ability to accurately set up reactions at a fraction of the traditional volumes (often one tenth or less) leads to a step-change in productivity. NGS library preparation, magnetic bead cleanup, cDNA synthesis, whole genome amplification, PCR and qPCR all have been successfully automated and miniaturized with mosquito. Miniaturization leads to large cost savings and allows researchers to maximize their output of results for a given budget.

Bring the benefits of positive displacement pipetting into your lab

mosquito’s unique nanolitre liquid handling technology enables you to perform ‘traditional’ liquid handling tasks at a fraction of the volume, higher speeds and with lower dead volumes. mosquito’s disposable positive displacement pipette tips can directly aspirate sample, dispense or multi-dispense and even mix, all in nanolitre to microlitre volumes.

We're revolutionizing liquid handling

Our liquid handling portfolio provides you with accurate and repeatable nanolitre to microlitre pipetting, every time, irrespective of liquid viscosity or environmental conditions.

Built for performance

Our liquid handling instruments use innovative technologies to provide real world benefits to researchers.

We produce robust, reliable and easy to use products that overcome difficult technical challenges so that you can focus on solving the scientific ones.

Positive displacement pipetting

Each of our disposable micropipettes has its own individual piston, not an air gap or system liquid, offering true positive-displacement pipetting with no risk of cross-contamination.

Our pipetting technology makes mosquito liquid handlers uniquely suited to deal with a wide range of viscosities, from organic solvents to aqueous buffers with 50% glycerol, all without any liquid classification.

Low-volume accuracy and precision

mosquito HV genomics offers low volume automated pipetting in the 500 nL to 5 µL range, to a very high level of performance, suitable even for serial dilution or quantitative PCR set-up.

  • Outstanding accuracy: with an average of less than 3% error throughout the volume range
  • Unrivaled precision: CVs of 3% (average across the volume range)
Linearity of volume transfer for mosquito HVvolumetric data

Data was obtained from 64 repeat volumes from 500 nL to 5 µL. % accuracy was within 2% and % c.v. was less than 3% across the volume range. Data was provided using the Artel MVS system.

Intuitive by design

Our software is as focused on usability as it is on functionality. We strive for an intuitive user experience that matches the requirements of each scientific application. Through collaboration with scientists, our software team develop and enhance the instrument UI to provide the optimal user experience and facilitate adoption into novel application areas.

Versatile workflow integration

mosquito liquid handlers have been integrated with a wide variety of other laboratory instrumentation, including robotic plate handlers, stackers and bulk liquid handlers, to achieve walk-away operation in many application areas.

The mosquito Plate Processor (MoPP) is an off-the-shelf compact bench top workcell centered around mosquito. The integration system uses the popular PreciseFlex PF400 plate handling robot and Revolution scheduler allowing a variety of third party equipment to be integrated with any of our mosquito liquid handlers.

Featured applications

Our mosquito liquid handlers are not restricted to specific kits or processes. Being an open, fully programmable platform, mosquito HV genomics is commonly used in enzymatic reactions that would benefit from lower reagent costs, standardized and reproducible high throughput set-up and/or reduced sample input.

What our customers say

What our customers say

Interrogation of sequencing data (e.g. total reads mapped, complexity, and genes detected) indicated that the NGS libraries generated on the mosquito were of good quality. Our results demonstrate the utility, versatility, and practicality of the mosquito in a core lab.
