Assured quality and performance

All apricot pipette tips are produced to the same high-quality standard:

  • Manufactured at an ISO13485-certified factory
  • Produced from USP class VI virgin polypropylene
  • Available in 'standard', 'sterile', and 'filtered sterile' variants for all tip geometries
  • Filters made from ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMW-PE)

  • Collars made from polypropylene

Select the right tip format for your instrument

There are two ranges of apricot tips: EZ-load and AL (automatic load). The AL tips are used exclusively with the apricot DC1.

Simple loading with EZ-load tips

EZ-load tips use a proprietary sealing mechanism to create an airtight seal between the tip and pipetting core. Conventional pipette tips rely on either an O-ring coupling or deformation coupling between the tip and a pipette shaft. By contrast, EZ-load tips achieve a robust and reliable seal by clamping the tip head flange directly against an elastomer mat at the bottom of the core. Tips are conveniently arrayed in plastic collars for easy handling and insertion into the head.

The EZ-load tip technology has several key advantages:

  • low, even tip load force
  • no risk of O-ring degradation/failure
  • fixed angle of tip engagement
  • fixed tip length
  • no space taken up on deck positions by tip boxes

Full tip arrays

Use 24/96/384-channel (full-head) tip arrays to carry out simultaneous transfers of samples between plates, e.g. to copy or stamp samples. All liquid transfers in the tip array are identical, carrying the same transfer volume and making use the same piston speeds.

Full tip arrays are therefore an ideal tool to achieve accurate and repeatable pipetting results for large numbers of samples. Note that 24-channel arrays are labelled "offset" (OS) because they couple to an offset of channels on the 96-channel core.

Strip tips

Use 8/16/12/24-channel strip tips (partial tip arrays) to pipette by row, column, or plate. Strip tips carry the same pipetting tips as full tip arrays but differ by coupling to just a subset of core channels.

Strip tips are ideal tools for reagent distribution from reservoirs to plates, or to create sample serial dilutions. Strip tips require the use of either serial dilution heads (15/50/125 µL tips) or a head balance (plastic insert or second strip tip; 250/550/1000 µL tips).

apricot interactive tip builder

Our interactive apricot tip builder helps you identify the tip part number you need. Tip part numbers are a combination of four codes separated by hyphens: tip volume, channel type, tip type and tip sterility. See the interactive table below to identify the tip part number you need based on your product, compatible core, head type, dispense range, channel type and sterility.

AL boxes

AL (automated load) tips allow automated tip loading and unloading on compatible instruments. This gives the user greater walkaway time in multi-step protocols, which may require multiple tip changes. All AT-load tip types are arrayed into boxes of 96 tips and the instrument head picks up the number of tips specified in the protocol. AL tips have a conventional tip to head coupling that is similar to the type used in manual air displacement pipettes.
