About this webinar

In this webinar Dr. Rebecca Martin, Scientific Lead of the Genomics and Spatial Biology CoLab at Seattle Children’s Research Institute and Dr. Liz Tseng, Product Manager at PacBio, discuss how automation is transforming long-read transcriptomics.

Dr. Martin will demonstrate her team’s implementation of PacBio’s Kinnex™ RNA library prep on the SPT Labtech firefly® liquid handler, showcasing how automation enables scalable, reproducible, and high-quality RNA sequencing workflows.

Discover how the Kinnex kit is designed to streamline PacBio’s long-read RNA library prep, preserving full-length transcripts and delivering exceptional isoform resolution. When paired with the firefly® platform, labs can reduce hands-on time and improve consistency across preparations, supporting robust transcriptomic analyses at scale.

PacBio Iso-Seq and Kinnex automation protocols were developed in support of the 1000 Genomes Long Read Project, aiming to produce Iso-Seq data for 1000 diverse samples from the 1000 Genomes cohort. This effort is led by Danny Miller, MD, PhD, Evan Eichler, PhD, at the University of Washington, and Rajiv McCoy, PhD at Johns Hopkins University with support from PacBio and SPT Labtech. This open-access dataset will serve as a foundational resource for interpreting gene expression, alternate splicing, and regulatory elements.

Key learning objectives:
  • Understand how automation improves long-read RNA sequencing workflows: Learn how integrating PacBio's Kinnex™ RNA library prep kit with the firefly® liquid handler enhances consistency, scalability, and quality in transcriptomic research.
  • Explore the benefits of preserving full-length transcripts with long-read sequencing: Gain insight into how Kinnex and PacBio Iso-Seq enable high-resolution isoform detection—crucial for studying gene expression, splicing, and regulatory elements.
  • Learn how automated workflows support large-scale transcriptomics projects: See how this automation was applied in the 1000 Genomes Long Read Project to process diverse samples at scale, generating open-access data for the research community.
