Basic operations - Using the Reweighing function
The Reweighing function allows you to modify your output file if you have had to adjust the quantity of sample in some of your tubes after the initial gross weighing.
- Determine which tubes need additional processing via analysis of the Gross weight (.GWT) files.
- Add or remove sample in those tubes, and ensure they are returned to their previous position in the rack.
- Select the Start Button, then select both the Gross and Reweigh mode check boxes. (The reweigh functionality is started in the same manner as Tare and Gross Weigh modes.)

Select the tube(s) within the first rack which need to be reweighed. These are shown as the black circles. Select OK.
NOTE: The software will only reweigh tubes from one tube rack at a time.
4. From the Tray Setup Screen, select the rack’s deck position and type (or bar code scan) the rack ID. Select OK and the XL9B will begin the reweigh process. In this example, the XL9B will reweigh the 5 tubes selected within the first rack of tubes selected during the Tray Setup process.
5. Verify data via the output file. The output file is the original rack ID# with the .GWT extension. The software has overwritten the 5 tubes specified by the reweigh process.
6. For subsequent racks, begin at Step #4 again. The Tray Setup procedure must be repeated for each rack needing specific tubes reweighed.
Shutting down
As part of SPT Labtech’s ongoing sustainability efforts, we encourage all users to switch off their XL9B when not in use. This simple step helps lower energy consumption and contributes to collective carbon-reduction goals. The XL9B is designed for safe and efficient shutdown.
- Close the instrument software.
- Turn off the XL9B instrument, using the plug and on/off switch at the back.
- Turn off the computer, unless using it for other tasks.
