Scan configure_export

  • File Location
    • This subsection allows the user to select the desired output file location.
  • File Name
    • This subsection allows the user to configure the file naming scheme of the output file.
    • File name fields – a minimum of one field needs to be selected, up to a maximum of seven. These can be added and subtracted using the + or – buttons. They will read from left to right in the file name from top down.
      • File name field options
        • Rack ID
        • Date
        • Time
        • Fixed Text
        • Auto-index
        • Prompt
        • Empty
    • Fixed text – an open text field that corresponds to the optional file name field above.
    • Auto-index – enables the user to select the starting number for the auto-index file name field above.
    • Auto-index padded digits – allows the user to choose between single character digits (“1”), two character digits (“01”), or any number of leading zeros when auto-indexing.
    • File extension – allows the user to choose the output file extension e.g., “csv”, “txt”, “output”, etc.
  • Delimiters

Scan delimiters

    • Delimiter between Values
      • Select the delimiter desired for the output values.
        • Comma
        • Space
        • Semicolon
        • Tab
        • Other (user specified)
  • Sheet Formatting

Scan sheet_formatting

  • Data Format
    • List – the default output data format in a column configured list.
    • Matrix (barcodes only) – output data format that outputs only the tube barcodes in a table matrix format.
  • List Ordering
    • Row-major – Output list ordered by row.
    • Column-major – Output list ordered by column.
  • List Fields
    • Output column names – a Boolean field that enables, when checked, column headers in the output file and disables column headers if unchecked.
    • Output all fields in default sequence – a Boolean field that includes all potential column fields in the output file when checked or allows the user to configure when unchecked (see image below).

Scan list_fields

  • Date-Time Formatting and Miscellaneous
    • Date-Time Formatting – date and time options that correspond to the date and time file name fields above.
      • Date Format – Select desired date format from the dropdown list.
      • Time Format – Select desired time format from the dropdown list.

Scan time_format

    • Miscellaneous
      • Column numbering padded digits.
        • Enter “1” for “A1” output well positions.
        • Enter “2” for “A01” output well positions.

Scan misc_format

      • Unreadable barcode value - an open text field that will show in the output file and table for unreadable barcodes.
      • Missing tube value - an open text field that will show in the output file and table for missing tubes. This value only becomes usable when missing tube detection is enabled.
      • Example:

Scan missing_tube

  • Batch Outputs
    • Enable batch output – a Boolean field that enables batch outputs. This feature takes in multiple scans and concatenates them into one output file. Each rack scanned by using the ‘Decode’ button on the main scan screen, will be stored as temporary data until the ‘Output’ button is pressed. This saves users time with post processing or file uploading when doing large batch workflows.

Advanced Settings Screen

  • The Advanced Settings screen is located under the Settings section of the sidebar.
  • This screen allows the user to edit settings under the following subsections:
    • Timeouts
    • Barcode Character Set
    • Linear Scanner
    • Scan Cycles
    • Missing Tube Detection
    • Output Editing
    • Scan Config.

Scan advanced_settings

  • Timeouts
    • Decoder Timeout (ms) – an open numerical field that specifies the timeout window for the decoder.
      • This can be helpful to adjust if the decoder is trying to read empty wells as tubes to speed up the decode process. It is not recommended to set this below 1000.
    • Side Reader Timeout (ms) – an open numerical field that specifies the timeout window for the optional side reader.
  • Barcode Character Set
    • Character Set – a dropdown list that can either specify an expected 2D barcode type, e.g. Alphanumeric, or be set to “Unspecified”.
    • Character Min Length – a numeric field that can be set to a specify the minimum allowable 2D barcode character length. Use “0” for unspecified.
    • Character Max Length – a numeric field that can be set to a specify the minimum allowable 2D barcode character length. Use “0” for unspecified.
  • Linear Scanner
  • Use Linear Scanner – the linear rack ID scanner is an optional add-on to the Scan unit. This is a Boolean field that enables the use of the linear rack ID scanner when checked and ignores the linear rack ID scanner when unchecked.
  • Post-scan Rack ID prompt – a Boolean field that enables the pop-up prompt after the Output button is pressed when the field is checked.
  • Scan Cycles
    • Cycles – Numeric field that allows for multiple decode rounds, default is set to 1.
    • Seconds between cycles – wait period between decode cycles.

Scan scan_settings

  • Missing Tube Detection
    • Enable missing tube detection – this is a Boolean field that enables the missing tube detection algorithm during scanning. This is default set to on.
    • Missing tubes are displayed as red circles.

  • Output Editing
    • Enable output table editing – a Boolean field that enables the user to edit the output table tab in the software. This is default set to off.
  • Scan Config.
    • Open Scan Config – This is only necessary for setup or troubleshooting of Scan customers that purchased the optional Rack Side Barcode Reader.
