Storing vials

To store a rack of vials in arktic:

  1. Press Eject on arktic's touchscreen. The front hatch opens and the
    tray extends.
  2. Place your rack on the tray, with A1 facing the rear left. Make sure it is seated correctly.
  3. Press Eject again to load the rack.

IMPORTANT: The rack is held in a dry atmosphere at -20°C, so take care not to leave
the hatch open for prolonged periods, as letting more ambient air in will result in extended drying times.

arktic detects the vials in the rack and prepares to store them.

IMPORTANT: arktic will detect and handle a number of common labware failures:

  • protruding vial - carriage will be extended again for you to correct this
  • unreadable vial barcode - store will run and the vial will be left in the rack (default)
  • stuck vial - store will run and the vial will be left in the rack
  • missing cap - store will run and the vial will be left in the rack
  • distorted vial seal - store will run and the vial will be left in the rack

Before storing vials, arctic dries the rack by purging the moist atmosphere surrounding it. The
Current Job status will show Drying.

IMPORTANT: A typical ambient temperature rack will dry in approximately 2 minutes.

Once drying is complete, arktic starts storing vials and the Machine Status will change to
Processing.

When the store job is complete, the order is moved to the order history and the rack will remain
in the system until a new one is loaded.

A report listing which vials have been stored will be written to the Reports folder.
